Live Transfer Handoff
Purpose: move a fully qualified homeowner to a US energy consultant on the same call, with a warm introduction.
When to use: after stages 1 to 4 of the Fresh Web Lead Setter Call or the Inbound Solar Call, when the campaign runs live transfers and a consultant is available.
Goal of the call: the consultant accepts the homeowner and starts the conversation, or a firm appointment is booked if no consultant is free.
Version: v1.0
Track: Solar · Role: Live Transfer Agent · Time to complete: 15 min to learn
Before you transfer
- Every qualification gate answered and written in the CRM
- All decision makers on the line or nearby, or the homeowner confirmed they decide alone
- Consultant availability checked (queue, line or team channel, as your campaign works)
- Campaign hold-time limit known
- Two fallback appointment slots ready on the calendar
The transfer summary is the heart of this script. Practice it until you can say it calmly in about 20 seconds: name, city, ownership, bill, utility, roof, shade, decision makers, motivation.
The flow
1. Offer the transfer
You: "Thank you, (HOMEOWNER NAME). From everything you told me, it makes sense for a consultant to look at your options. (CONSULTANT NAME) is available right now. Would you like me to bring them on the line so you can talk it through together?"
Why it works: it is a clear, honest choice. The homeowner agrees to the next step instead of being pushed into it.
If they say: "Yes, sure."
Go to stage 2.
If they say: "Not right now."
You: "No problem. I can book a time for you both instead. (CONSULTANT NAME) has (DAY 1) at (TIME 1) or (DAY 2) at (TIME 2). Which works better?"
Book it as a normal set.
If they say: "My husband needs to be part of it, and he is not home."
You: "Then let us find a time when you are both there. That way he hears everything first hand. (DAY 1) at (TIME 1) or (DAY 2) at (TIME 2)?"
Never transfer with a decision maker missing.
If they say: "Will they tell me the price and how much I will save?"
You: "They will go through the real numbers for your home and the options available. I cannot promise any particular result, because it depends on your roof and your usage, but they will be straight with you."
2. Set expectations for the hold
You: "Great. I will place you on a short hold while I connect (CONSULTANT NAME). I will stay on the line and introduce you, so you will not need to repeat anything. It should only take a moment."
3. Brief the consultant (private, if your phone system allows)
You: "Hi (CONSULTANT NAME), it is (YOUR NAME) from the (COMPANY NAME) scheduling team. I have (HOMEOWNER NAME) from (CITY), (STATE) on hold. Homeowner, (YEARS) years in the home, bill about (AMOUNT) a month with (UTILITY NAME), roof about (YEARS) years, (SHADE LEVEL) shade. (SPOUSE NAME) is with them. Main reason: (THEIR WORDS). Ready for me to bring them in?"
Why it works: the consultant has everything they need before saying hello.
4. Check in during the hold
If the consultant does not pick up quickly, return to the homeowner about every 30 seconds:
You: "Thank you for waiting, (HOMEOWNER NAME). I am still connecting you. Just a few more moments."
5. The three-way introduction
You: "(HOMEOWNER NAME), I have (CONSULTANT NAME) on the line with us. (CONSULTANT NAME), (HOMEOWNER NAME) and (SPOUSE NAME) own their home in (CITY). Their bill runs about (AMOUNT) a month, the roof is about (YEARS) years old, and what matters most to them is (THEIR WORDS). (HOMEOWNER NAME), (CONSULTANT NAME) is the consultant I mentioned. I will let you two talk."
Why it works: the homeowner hears that you listened, and the consultant starts from the homeowner's real reason.
6. Hand over and leave
Wait until the consultant speaks and the homeowner replies. Then:
You: "Thank you both. Have a great conversation."
Leave the call.
7. Fallback: no consultant available
If the hold limit is reached:
You: "(HOMEOWNER NAME), thank you for your patience. Our consultants are all with other homeowners right now, and I do not want to keep you waiting. Let me book you a firm time instead. (DAY 1) at (TIME 1) or (DAY 2) at (TIME 2)?"
Book, lock and confirm as in the Fresh Web Lead Setter Call, stage 6.
8. If the call drops
Call back once, immediately:
You: "Hi (HOMEOWNER NAME), it is (YOUR NAME) from (COMPANY NAME) again. I think we got cut off. Shall I try connecting you again, or would you prefer to book a time?"
No answer: leave a short voicemail (V1 adapted) and send a text with two appointment options.
Objections
| They say | Handbook entry |
|---|---|
| "How much will I save?" | Objection 9 |
| "I need to talk to my spouse" | Objection 12 |
| "Can you just tell me if it is worth it?" | Objection 34 |
| "I do not want a salesperson" | Objection 25 |
After the call
- Code LT if the consultant accepted, SET if you booked a fallback, CB or NUR-(REASON) otherwise.
- Note:
LT / (DATE) (TIME) (TIME ZONE) / to (CONSULTANT NAME) Owners: (NAMES), on call: (WHO). Avg bill about (AMOUNT), utility (NAME), roof (DETAIL), shade (LEVEL). Motivation: (THEIR WORDS). Hold time: (SECONDS). Next: check outcome by end of shift. (YOUR NAME)
- Log the transfer in your tracker: attempted, accepted, fallback booked, or dropped.
Coach's note: Slow down in the introduction. Under pressure, agents rush the summary and the consultant misses half of it. Breathe, say the name, and give one fact per sentence.
Never do this:
Never transfer without the homeowner's agreement.
Never transfer a partly qualified homeowner to "save time".
Never leave the line before the consultant has clearly taken over.
Never say "You will definitely save" or "They will get you approved".
Check yourself
- List the facts in the private consultant brief.
- What do you say every 30 seconds during a hold?
- The hold limit is reached. Write your fallback line.
- When exactly do you leave the three-way call?
- Which code do you use if you booked a fallback appointment?
