Client Cheat Sheet Template

10 min, then 1 hour to build

For everyone starting on a new client or campaign. After reading this page you will be able to build your one-screen Client Cheat Sheet on Day 2 and keep it open on every shift, so you never ask the same question twice.

Track: All tracks · Role: Everyone · Time to complete: 10 min, then 1 hour to build

What it is

Your personal one-page summary of the client: the business, the customer, your work, the rules and the answers you need most. You build it on Day 2 of the five-day method on Learning How to Learn a New Client in Core Skills, and you keep it open on every shift.

The Client Workflow Record is the client's full process document. The cheat sheet is your quick reference. It must fit on one screen.

How to keep it useful

  • Add every new answer the moment you receive it, so you never ask twice
  • Update the "Updated" date every time you change it
  • Re-read it at the start of each shift in your first two weeks
  • Mid-week: add any new client memo or rule change
  • Ask your lead to check it on Day 5 when you teach the client back

Coach's note: If your cheat sheet does not fit on one screen, it has become a manual. Move detail to the Client Workflow Record and keep only what you need in the middle of a live call or a busy hour.

Never do this: Never put passwords, customer personal data or lockbox and gate codes on your cheat sheet. Never reuse a cheat sheet, script or list from a previous client on a new one. Every client's information stays with that client.

Check yourself

  1. On which day of the five-day method do you build the cheat sheet?
  2. What is the difference between the cheat sheet and the Client Workflow Record?
  3. A caller is asked "where are you calling from?". Where on the sheet is the answer?
  4. Your sheet now runs to three screens. What do you do?
Answers
  1. Day 2.
  2. The cheat sheet is your one-screen quick reference. The Client Workflow Record is the client's full process document with task cards.
  3. In the calling add-on: the client's approved answer naming the client's company and market or office.
  4. Move the detail to the Client Workflow Record and cut the sheet back to one screen.
